The Company

The first Computa Tune van appeared on the road in Accrington, Lancashire in 1981. Ex- Policeman Andrew Whittaker and his wife Andrea turned a hobby into a business. Working from home, it took the next four years to expand their business to six vans in Accrington, Blackburn, Burnley, Bury and Manchester. In 1986 a 500 sq ft workshop and office was rented and the Computa Tune national franchise was launched.

A full member of the British Franchise Association since 1989 and with some 70 franchisees operating Computa Tune has perfected the formula for success.

The Market
There are over 22 million cars on the road making a total market of over £5 billion and, with this market growing at the rate of 7% per annum, the potential for Computa Tune franchisees is simply enormous.

The Service
The Computa Tune concept is based upon a highly sophisticated engine diagnostic service which is provided to our customers at a time and place that is convenient to them. The benefits of regular servicing are readily seen in improved reliability, more power and better fuel economy.

Careful evaluation of electronic engine management systems enables faults to be diagnosed before they cause a serious problem, therefore avoiding expensive garage repair bills and "off road" time.

There are three major areas of business for our franchisees :

	Mobile One Stop Service This is designed to provide the private motorist with a full range of services including mobile engine tuning and servicing, brake servicing, and pre-MOT inspections.
	Green Flag Vehicle Inspection Service Our appointment by Green Flag National breakdown as the sole provider of vehicle inspection services to Green Flag members endorses our position as the UK's number one mobile service provider, and for Computa Tune franchisees it means access to a ready made market of 3.5 million Green Flag members which is expected to generate over 30,000 inspections per year
	Fleet Servicing Fleet servicing is growing to become a major part of Computa Tune business. Fleet customers are contacted directly and key accounts arranged and secured with large multi-vehicle companies. With a centralised fleet booking and invoicing centre we are well set up to help you maximise the benefits from this market.

Training
Training is vital to the Computa Tune franchise. A dedicated training centre at our headquarters is fully equipped with diagnostic computers and test engines and courses are designed to ensure that franchisees of all levels receive maximum benefit. Training comprehensively covers vehicle inspections and engine diagnostics, all to IMI standards.

In addition to practical training the course covers the nuts and bolts of business administration by professionals in their fields. Once you have understood the basics of running the franchise, we will work with you to perfect your skills, continually monitoring your progress and offering additional training as required.

One of the major benefits of being a part of franchise operation such as Computa Tune is that whatever problems you may experience help is always at hand. From complex mechanical help to national marketing support we are with you every step of the way.

The Investment
Each new Computa Tune area is assessed by our management team for potential customers. Depending on the area potential the total cost of the franchise package is between £8,500 and £1 1, 500 (plus VAT which can be re-claimed). In addition there is a sliding scale royalty fee of between 12% and 5% of sales, so the more you earn the less you pay.

The Rewards
The rewards from a single Computa Tune franchise can be considerable. The top earners
can earn over £1,000 per week and there is still plenty of scope for them to increase the services which they offer, move on to a multiple van operation or, ultimately start up a Computa Tune MOT Service Centre.
